New Bern High School offers three courses as part of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Pathway including Introduction to Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts 1 and Honors Culinary Arts 2, which is a year-long course. In each of these courses students develop hands on skills and advance their knowledge in the field of food preparation and sanitation and safety through project based learning. Students operate the Bear Den Cafe and serve lunches, cater meetings and events, and bake goods for sales. We also go on field trips to local restaurants and culinary schools. Additionally all Family and Consumer Sciences students are encouraged to join FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America). This club participates in many service projects and goes on several field trips throughout the year. Click around and learn more about Culinary Arts has to offer.

Reader Note: As of June 2016 I will no longer be teaching at New Bern High School. Therefore this website will not be updated. However, it will stay up as a portfolio of the many achievements of my culinary students from 2008 to 2016. I am very proud of all the work that I and my students have put into this program in order to make it great.
